January 19, 2023 – Monthly Meeting via Zoom and Michael Kehs Remote Demo

The January 19 meeting will be an IRD via Zoom only. We will open the Zoom session about 6:30 for informal discussions, and the meeting will begin at 7opm with a short business meeting, and the remote demo by Michael Kehs will begin about 7:15. Zoom information will be emailed to current FLWT members a few days ibn advance of the meeting for members who are not able to meet in person.
 
Michael Kehs is a self-taught, expert craftsman who has been turning and carving wood for 40 years. He has been active in both local and national turning and carving clubs. Michael has won awards in national art shows and has turned an ornament for the Clinton White House during the “Year of the Craft". In addition, he has written for the American Woodturner, the journal of the American Association of Woodturners, and for Woodcraft Magazine.
 He also owns a studio in Pennsylvania where he demonstrates and teaches wood carving and turning. Michael Kehs has a true passion and expertise in woodworking.
 

Michael will demonstrate two different embellishment techniques. The first is demonstrating burn texturing on a wide rim bowl, showing different textures you can achieve. The second technique is fire sanding and adding color to a turning.
