Finger Lakes Woodturners February 2018 Meeting
The second meeting for 2018 is on Thursday February 15, and it will begin at 6:00pm with a show and share of members work, followed by a short business meeting that will commence at 6:30pm. We have a guest demonstrator, David Barnet, from the Rochester Folk Art Guild. David will be demonstrating natural edge turning on fruitwood branches and larger green native species.
David’s demonstration will include showing a couple of different holding methods. He will also discuss drying techniques, including use of a microwave. David’s woodworking career has spanned over 40 years, all of it being with the Rochester Folk Art Guild in Middlesex, NY. Teaching basic spindle work and bowl turning has become a great way for David to share the joy of this craft woodturning with others.
A reminder that the challenge for this month is to turn a yarn bowl.
