FLWT Hosts Keith Tompkins
On Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th, FLWT will be hosting national speaker Keith Tompkins (www.keithptompkins.com). Keith turns a wide variety of pieces and is well known for his spiral and carved pieces. His work is exhibited in several galleries. You can see some of the details of Keith’s work in the photos above as well as on his web site.
FLWT will host Mr. Tompkins for a special Friday night club meeting on April 19th open to all FLWT members. During this talk, Keith will discuss his work with the membership as well as how he has evolved as a woodturner.
On Saturday, April 20th, we will hold a demonstration where Mr. Tompkins will be discussing and demonstrating a variety of toipcs. Keith will discuss all of the bacic cuts necessary for woodturning, he will talk about the principles of design for turned objects and he will apply those principles while designing and turning a bowl.. Keith will also demonstrate several other turned projects including one of his signature Sprial pieces. The demo will start at about 9am and run through mid-afternoon with a short break for lunch. If you plan on attending please plan on bringing your own lunch. The demonstration is open to all and will cost $35.
