Change of Date – February 23, 2023 – Monthly Meeting with Larry Lobel
The February monthly meeting has been changed to Thursday Feb 23, and it will be an In-person Demonstration with our very own Larry Lobel, at St. Michael's Woodshop with remote viewing via Zoom. Doors and Zoom will open at 6:45 pm for informal discussions, and the meeting will begin at 7:15.
Larry Lobel’s interest in woodturning started in 7th grade woodshop. “I was hooked at first turn. Of course we used spindle tools to turn bowls, no one knew better. And without the internet books like Creative Woodturning by Dale Nish were the way we learned”.
Fast forward 50 years later and Larry still loves learning new woodturning techniques and enjoys a variety of projects. Larry says “Best part of woodturning for me now are the friends I’ve made and the willingness of everyone to share”.
Aside from turning in his home shop, Larry volunteers multiple times a week to work with the students in the after school program at St. Michael’s wood shop, a FLWT Mentor, and is the Vice President of FLWT.
Larry will be demonstrating his take on a three legged stool. He has a few scattered about the shop for when folks come to visit.
