Finger Lakes Woodturners June 2018 Meeting

Finger Lakes Woodturners June 2018 Meeting

Our June meeting, on Thursday June 21, will feature Bruce Impey showing us how he turns bracelets. Bruce has been turning bracelets for awhile now.  He got started by making a few bracelets at the request of his daughters, and then found himself making more for them to give as Christmas presents.

As is our usual practice, the meeting will begin at 6:00 pm with Show and Share, and a brief business/info session at 6:30 and then Bruce’s demonstration.

His approach quickly changed from simple turning to segmented turning and he is planning on taking these tiny projects along for the summer to make on a mini lathe aboard his cabin cruiser as he plans to spend an extended amount of time on Lake Ontario over the summer months.  He will be sharing what he has learned so far and how his use of tools and jigs has been evolving.

Bruce has also been learning how to set up a web site to show off his interests with turning and spending time on his boat.  You can check out the web site at woodturningmariner.com and there are pictures of some of his bracelets on the site also.
