Finger Lakes Woodturners October 2017 Meeting
Finger Lakes Woodturners will hold our second regular club meeting of the 2017-2018 season on Thursday October 19th. FLWT member David Gilbert is our featured demonstrator, and will compare and demonstrate the three available coring systems.
The meeting will begin at 6:00pm with a show and share of members work, followed by a short business meeting that will commence at 6:30pm.
In addition to a slide presentation about coring, David will demonstrate the Bowlsaver by WoodCut, Easy-Core system by Oneway, and the Centre-Saver system by McNaughton. These all produce several bowls from a single block of wood and are relatively easy to use. David hopes that the slides and demos will show the advantages as well as some of the problems with each of these systems.
Please join us on October 19th to learn how to make some extra bowls from your wood. We encourage folks to bring a piece they have turned and/or embellished for Show and Share. Polish up your air brushing skills and bring something for Mark Mazzo’s Challenge Project. If there is a piece with which you are having difficulty, please bring it in to get advice from your many skilled mentors.
