Michael Gibson, our featured demonstrator for the March 2023 club meeting, makes fabulous wooden teapots turned on a lathe. Although he doesn’t recommend making tea in them, he does say, “if you are willing to spend $5,000 on one, you can do what you want with it.”

Michael grew up in England working on sailing yachts and has been working with wood all his life.  Michael was always interested in woodturning and studied for many years to perfect his craft. What began as a hobby blossomed into a passion. He has gained international recognition for his teapots, and has demonstrated at numerous chapters of the AAW, regional and national symposiums, and outside the US in Canada, Norway, England, Turkey, and New Zealand. A single teapot will take many days to complete, and on this IRD, you will be able to see all of the steps, ask questions, and perhaps build one of your own afterward.
